Sehr grosse, kräftige, Boden bewohnende Spinne. Die rotbraunen Haare sind sehr kurz und können nicht abgestreift werden. Die Spinne lebt in freier Wildbahn in langen, selbst gegrabenen Höhlen und lauert am Eingang auf Beute. Diesem Umstand sollte Rechnung getragen werden, indem man ein grosses Terrarium mit etwa 20 cm lehmigem Bodengrund ausfüllt.
Die Spinne ist sehr aggressiv. Bei Belästigung schlägt sie mit den Vorderbeinen nach dem Angreifer und erzeugt zischende Laute. Wenn dies nicht genügt, beisst sie kräftig zu. Die bis zu 1,7 cm langen Giftklauen reissen dabei hässliche Wunden.

Very big and strong species. Its very short red-brown hairs cannot be kicked off. This terrestrial tarantula lives in long self-dug tubes. In captivity one should try to simulate this conditions providing a deep layer of loamy soil.
This tarantula is very aggressive and must not be handled. If it feels molested it will hit the aggressor with its forelegs and will produce hissing sounds. If this is not enough it will bite without further warning. This is very painful and will cause ugly injuries because of the chelicera (fangs) that can reach a length of 1,7 cm.
